If you are going to be using a wheelchair temporarily or permanently, you should look into having a wheelchair stair lift installed in your home. Otherwise, you may have to rearrange your entire house so you can spend all of your time downstairs. Not only can this be difficult to do, especially since you will have to count on other people to do all that moving around and rearranging for you, but also because the downstairs may not really have the room or a setup that caters to you being there full time. When you have a hard time getting around, you can feel as if you are trapped. When you can only access the upstairs part of your home on 'good days', you can find yourself becoming increasingly agitated and possibly even depressed. A wheelchair stair lift can give you back your freedom and independence in your own home by giving you the power to go upstairs anytime and any day you want, no matter whether you are having a good day or a bad one. 

More comfort

Even on the days when you don't mind staying downstairs, there is a feeling of comfort that comes from knowing that you could get right upstairs should you decide that you want to do so. Also, if you like having a family member or friend visit often who may need to access the upstairs but who struggles with them, they may feel better coming over and even visiting longer because they know the stair lift is there to help them go up and down your stairs.
